- Backscatter ratios for ice crystals of cirrus clouds

- The simplest perfect and imperfect shapes of ice crystals are considered.
We obtained the lidar backscattering properties of these particles by Physical Optics approach.
We found that the imperfectness impacts essentially on the backscatter.
We compared the light scattered by a hexagonal ice plate that was obtained by different methods:
1) in the physical-optics approximation,
2) in FDTD method (Ishimoto)
3) in the GOIE method (Masuda)
4) in the Galerkin time domain method (Grynko).
