Fukuoka International Airport has several direct flights from overseas, mainly Asian countries.
From Europe and America, it may be convenient to come through Kansai International Airport in Osaka, or Narita International Airport in Tokyo, or Seoul (Incheon) International Airport in Korea. There are frequent flights between Fukuoka and Tokyo (Haneda Airport). Travelling with JR bullet train (Shin-kansen) gives an interesting alternative, and it takes about 2 and half hours between Shin-Osaka and JR Hakata Station.

Taking a taxi instead of subway and bus would be the easiest way to come without getting lost. It will take about 15 minutes from Fukuoka Airport, 10 minutes from JR Hakata Station, and 6 minutes from Tenjin, but the necessary journey time (and thus the taxi fare as well) depends on the traffic condition.
